It's Crafty Time: Valentine's Day Wreath

Tuesday, 3 February 2015

Hello Friends!

Time to get crafty. Not sure if you're all aware, but I love a good wreath. If I could have a wreath on every door or wall of my house I would be content. I even started a little side business making wreaths at local craft shows a little while back.

So here we are, Valentine's Day is closing in upon us, and I've decided to make my home just a little more festive.

Not much is needed for this wreath, just some sheets of felt, an old embroidery hoop - I find mine at thrift stores for really cheap - scissors and hot glue.

Glue gun and scissors not pictured as they are a HOT CRAFTY MESS
I find that it's most cost effective to buy felt by the yard, that is if you think you'll use it. They also come in smaller, individual sheets if you're looking for a one-time craft project. Apparently I'm always finding new uses for felt, so I keep myself stocked up.

Seeing as this was a valentine-type wreath I cut out many, many hearts. Then I took my glue gun, started at the top and began folding and gluing each individual heart by its tail. I rotated the colours as I went, wanting a good mix of each shade of pink. I think this wreath would work really well with an ombré theme.

Then there was kind of an awkward gap at the top of the circle when I was finished. How should I cover this up you ask? Well I put a felt bow on it. I loosely followed these instructions.

Here's my finished product:

There you have it! Quick and cute. I think this would make a great addition to the room of anyone that loves the colour pink. Sadly, I can only really digest pink around this time of the year. The wreath is happily hanging on the door to my craft room.

Happy crafting!
