Hello Friends!
Today I'd like to discuss my growing obsession with West German Pottery. I only have a small colleciton yet, but the couple pieces I do I have I am over the moon for them. As I've learned, West German pottery became popular in the 1960s-1970s, had a bit of a lull, but now are really resurging with the growing market of retro lovers.
My favourite part about the pottery is that no two pieces are the same. Different manufacturers stayed within the same range of style, but colouring, glaze and markings differed from piece to piece.
I acquired my pieces from two very different places. The pottery on the left was purchased at an antiques market just outside my local area. I pretty much live in this market. I shop there weekly looking for deals and special items to add to my collection. The market is set up as a booth structure so each booth houses a different seller. The problem with this is that the prices of items can get quite steep. Most of the pottery pieces that I see usually range from $30 and reach to well over $150. I was lucky enough to find the piece for only $15.
The piece on the left was bought at a community garage sale for only $1! When I realized the price I thought that everyone in the room could feel my excitement.
I would love to add a couple more pieces to my collection. Maybe something in a blue colour or even a dark red.
Happy scavenging!
