Hello Friends!
I know, I've been an MIA blogger for quite some time. For that I apologize profusely. I've had some really exciting things happen in my life. The main one being this little guy:
Also, I'm looking at starting a new blog and a new Etsy store for some of mine and my sister-in-law's crafty creations. Don't worry, the Antique Scavenger isn't going anywhere! More details on that later.
I'd like to share today, my collection of growing Dansk Kobenstyle. I love this cookware; I have been collecting this line for the last couple of years, and really lucked out on buying them through Kijiji or antique markets around my town.
The collection was designed by Jens Quistgaard during the 1950s, starting with a set of flatware which combined teak and stainless steal. Throughout the decades, Dansk manufactured over 2000 products for the home, including furniture, candle holders and full dish sets.
That brings us to the Kobenstyle line of enamelware. Lauded for its ultra modern design, the Kobenstyle line debuted in 1955. The line included casseroles, dutch ovens, loaf pans, paella pans, pitchers and fondue pots in colours turquoise, red, yellow and lime green. Few changes occurred to the line over the next couple decades, however, new colours were introduced. Black, white, orange, brown and blue added during the 1970s, as well as the handle changed to teak on some of the pans and fondue pots.
The early markings on the bottom of Kobenstyle showed a picture of four ducks with the words Dansk Designs. Later on, the ducks were replaced with the Dansk Designs IHQ, for Jens Quistgaard's initials.
