Hello Friends!
I recently came across an adorable recipe box at one of my local thrift shops. I was able to thrift this box for the low, low price of $1. It also came with measuring cups and spoons. I was on my way out of the shop when the colour immediately grabbed my attention. I love the plastic look of the recipe, now I'll have to convert my favourite recipes to small cards.
I started looking into vintage plastics and came across a brand called LustroWare. Founded in the 1930s, but building to major popularity in the late 1960s, a lot of the pieces were sold in variety stores at low prices. LustroWare was involved with the manufacture of not only household items, such as dishes and other kitchen accessories, but also larger items like plastic outdoor furniture. Overall they manufactured over 300 items.
There are several items I would love to add to my vintage collection. These salt and pepper shakers and an amazing little spice rack. Don't even get me started how adorable I think the bread box in the photo is.
I fear a new obsession coming on!!
Happy scavenging!
