Hello Friends!
I had the chance to go thrifting the other day, and while I was out I found an delightful little serving tray.
I am a sucker for all things serving - I have quite the serving bowl, serving tray and serving utensil collection. Despite the visible wear and tear I love this tray. Named "Sacre Coeur de Montmartre", the watercolours are so vibrant with beautiful pigmentation.
The picture depicts a street scene in Montmartre located in the north end of Paris. The background of the tray depicts the Basilica of Sacre Coeur, with its weathered white stone. The tray has a sign that reads "Place du Tertre", the hub of Montmartre. I love the way French society is shown on the tray, with street-lined cafés and a bustling, winding road.
The tray was made by a company called Elite Trays. Manufactured in the 1950s and 1960s, they were based out of England, and while I was not able to find information on the company, it seems like the trays are heavily sought after. The sticker on the back of my tray indicates that the tray was varnished and baked, so I hope to be serving with it for quite some time.
I love the rich colouring of the blue paisley tray, as well as the delicate floral patterned tray. I'm a sucker for anything that incorporates both flowers and geometric patterns. I'll be keeping my eye out for something similar!
Happy scavenging!
